The winches combine maximum mobility with high lift loads and speeds. In this way, they can work at speeds of up to 1.5 m/s. With reduced loads, they can even reach speeds of up to 2.4 m/s. They are available in two construction designs for load capacities of up to 125 or 240 kg . A load measurement system is integrated into all winches as a standard feature, which measures and assesses current data on attached loads in connection with the stage control. In addition, overloads and underloads are detected. The dynamic stage control, which supplements the winches, accords with the requirements laid down for the safety integrity level (SIL) 3 according to DIN EN 61508. The quietest safety brakes on the market 01 02 Dynamic-lift winches are driven via highly-dynamic synchronous servomotors. “These servo drives are our own product. We had to develop them ourselves because there was nothing comparable available for safety applications on the market. The servo drives provide their full torque across the entire speed range and feature continuous positive locking to the brake”, says Uwe Schmidt. The “Roba-stop-silenzio” safety brakes are located at the end of second shaft. They are maintenance-free and are characterised by their short construction length. Due to the compact design and the onepiece toothed hub, they can be particularly easily installed and handled. The working air gap is set in the factory and cannot be adjusted by the customer. This excludes malfunctions caused by operating and adjustment errors. The plug-and-play solution is in keeping with modern trends. They are also equipped with a special noise damping system. Switching noises are hardly audible and, in new condition, lie below 50 dB. Long-term tests have confirmed that the low-noise operation is maintained even after 300,000 switchings. Even after several million switchings, the switching noise levels still lie well below those of other stage brakes. In order to meet the consistently increasing demands for higher speeds and accelerations, AMW is working on a new development in the field of stage winches relying on “Mayr power transmission safety brakes. “These new high-speed winches have lifting speeds of 3-6 m/s”, says Uwe Schmidt, indicating the future-orientated nature of the new technology. Product News Carbon fibre linear guides by Igus When it comes to weight savings, designers rely on carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). To meet this demands, igus has developed a drylin W profile. A very lightweight, high stiffness and non-magnetic CFRP. For aerospace or medical technology, igus offers the lightest linear guide in its magnitude made of carbon, for up to 2 000 mm stroke. Here, it is not only the support material that is made of CFRP, but the whole rail. The entire system is up to 40 % lighter than aluminium and up to 60 % lighter the than steel system. Industries where high dynamic movements plays are important, such as robotics, are increasingly utilising CFRP components. The high profile geometry of the CFRP rail enables an attachment by means of clamping jaws, which makes a complicated mechanical reworking superfluous. Moreover, the rail with high profile is the basis for a completely metal-free toothed belt axis, which is available in lengths up to 1000 mm. Here a deflection consisting of a carbon axis, a plastic gear and xiros plastic ball bearings from the igus range is used. Thus, it can be used without restrictions in X-ray equipment in medical technology. The carbon guide, does not require any external lubrication and thus is maintenance free. Expansion of product portfolio at Desch The demand for couplings with compact sized and high power transmission rate is continuously increasing. With requirements for high power density systems are increasing the manufacturer are dealing with extremely high levels of torque. Consequently, gear couplings are becoming more and more significant. They provide extremely high torque capacities and can also cope with extremely high peak loads. The Desch GC gear coupling is a double-cardanic shaft coupling with positive torque transmission via the toothing in the mesh. The convex toothing of the hub enables compensation of radial, axial and angular shaft displacements. The coupling is normally installed horizontally. Special customized versions, can be installed vertically without any problems. The bandwidth of Desch GC gear coupling sizes ranges from 50 to 1 000, permitting torque transmissions from 1,920 to 8,000,000 Nm, to fit shaft diameters from 20 to 1 000 mm. Compared to other gear couplings, the Desch GC’s main distinguishing feature is an extremely high power density combined with compact design.
