Turkey’s hotspot for industrial sales The 2014 event attracted 1,950 exhibiting companies and 77,200 visitors. The organizer expects similar participation figures in 2015. WIN Automation Eurasia 2015 in Istanbul shows four key industry sectors at one location. But can the trade fair also be for you a bridge to new business in the Balkans, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa? Turkey is the hub of Southern Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the former Soviet republics – a region that collectively houses 1.5 billion people and accounts for $ 5 trillion of gross domestic product (GDP). Manufacturing is the country’s primary growth driver, accounting for a quarter of GDP. Low corporate taxes, a young and educated workforce and growing consumer buying power helped attract $ 51 billion of foreign direct investment between 2010 and 2013. WIN Automation Eurasia 2015, which runs 19 – 22 March at the Tüyap Fair Convention and Congress Center in Istanbul, will spotlight current business opportunities at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. WIN Automation Eurasia is the umbrella for four trade fairs – Otomasyon Eurasia, Materials Handling Eurasia, Hydraulic & Pneumatic Eurasia, and Electrotech Eurasia – that cover industrial automation, materials handling and logistics, fluid power, and energy and electrotechnology, respectively. Exhibitors include such well-recognized names as ABB, Argo-Hytos, Beckhoff, Bonfiglioli, Bosch Rexroth, Festo, Kuka, Phoenix Contact, Jungheinrich, Kita Logistics, SSI Schaefer, Staubli and Trelleborg as well as small and medium-sized companies and national pavilions from Bulgaria, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. “Eurasia accounts for one third of the world’s landmass and two thirds of its population. WIN provides our customers with direct access to this huge market,” said Wolfgang Pech, senior vice president at Deutsche Messe. “Participation figures illustrate WIN’s appeal as a sales platform for global companies: Phoenix Contact and Freudenberg Sealing Technology have doubled their exhibition space; the European Power Transmission Distributors Asso- 10 MDA Technologies 1/2015

For example, Germany’s Freudenberg Sealing Technologies will use WIN to launch in Turkey its Freudenberg Xpress service, which produces machined seals as custom replacement parts, prototypes, or small production batches using original materials and profiles from Freudenberg production series. Advantages for the customer include a fast solution for urgent repairs, high-speed production and delivery, and reliability and security, all at the same level of quality and reliability provided in mass production. A spotlight to automation Turkey wants to become one of the world’s top 10 economies and top five machinery manufacturers within the coming decade. In order to do this, Turkish manufacturers must improve their quality standards while maintaining competitive pricing: a challenge that only advanced automation solutions can overcome. Otomasyon Eurasia presents the latest applications and solutions for industrial automation – including industrial IT and software, control systems and robotics – and spotlights sales opportunities in such growing sectors as automobile production, chemical processing, energy efficiency, food processing, mechanical engineering, and water and wastewater engineering. Systems for electrical energy Government programs such as privatization of generation and distribution, establishment of an energy exchange for stable supply and demand, and a commitment to increase renewables’ share of total installed power to 30 percent by 2023 make Turkey one of the world’s fastest growing and most attractive energy markets, one in which total energy investments are expected to reach $ 120 billion by 2023. Electrotech Eurasia showcases equipment and systems for electrical energy generation and power transmission and distribution as wells as accumulators, transformers and UPS. “The absolute leading trade fair in Eurasia” In March the experts of automation industry will meet again in Istanbul. What do you expect for the WIN show in 2015? WIN Automation is the absolute leading trade fair for the high-growth Automation, Electrotech, Hydraulic & Pneumatic and Materials Handling sectors in Eurasia. The prominent companies of exports are going to display their innovative products to high profile visitors in a total area of 30,000 m 2 . Also, within the scope of the exhibition; the Industrial Activities Summit that is held every year will deal again with the challenges and opportunities of the sector with several conferences, panels, corporate activities and solution shows. The summit plays an important role in information sharing and transfer. Innovative information exchanges will create an effective platform for the companies to encounter new business partners and establish new collaborations. Last year 1950 companies from 23 countries exposed their new products and built new business contacts at WIN Automation. The show hosted 77,204 professionals from Turkey and abroad. This year, the leading companies are preparing to display products at the exhibition, again. Why should the visitors come to Istanbul? Subjects such as research & development, innovation are at premium in machinery sector. The goal of today’s rapidly growing industries is to increase productivity and minimize the expenses. In this sense, WIN exhibitions are the exhibitions that will guide the sector’s professionals. I recommend everyone who wants to establish valuable business connections to attend this important organization. WIN exhibitions provide an excellent platform for the people who want to find leading companies under one roof and increase their business volume. What are actually the main topics in the Turkish industry and especially Motion, Drives and Automation? The trend towards smart and integreted industry is a powerful force for transformation in the world’s manufacturing industries. This new trend also emphasizes that the energy efficiency and productivity are highly important for the factories. Similarly, it is aimed that the energy density in Turkey should be decreased at least by 20% and the renewable energy sources’ share should be increased to 30% until 2023. So the network-based factory systems where components communicate with each other play an important role in increasing this productivity. The M2M –intermachinery communication automation systems enable users to monitor and manage their machines remotely, improve their processes efficiency and save energy. How can Turkish companies help to develop the technologies of the future? Turkey has major targets for 2023, which is the 100 th anniversary of the Republic such as ranking among top 10 big economies of the world, to reach export figures of $ 500 bn, to increase the share of exports of advance technology products up to 20 %, to become the production base of Eurasia for medium and high technology product. Turkey’s engineering capabilities and reasonable labor costs enable its industry to offer a range of high-quality, reasonably priced products and components. However, in order to achive these targets, it it also important to settle cost-efficient and more integrated manufacturing industry. Turkey, for this aim, is promoting the investment for R&D. Moreover, trade fairs lie WIN Eurasia provide great contribution for the development of the technology as an international platform where transfer of knowhow is possible.
