FORKLIFT TEST I INDUSTRIAL TRUCKS Intralogistics Trade magazine for material flow and material management In February of this year, Jungheinrich presented the new horizontal order pickers ECE 220/225 and 220/225i to the trade press. The new trucks are faster, thriftier and more practical than ever, at least according to the manufacturer’s promises. From a distance the new ECE looks very much like the previous model. That’s not surprising, as we are very familiar with both the front area and the JET Pilot steering wheel. Upon closer examination, however, we discover a newly developed and designed truck. Jungheinrich calls them DayLed and they enhance safety in the workplace. Upon still closer examination we see that the steering column of the JET Pilot control system has been adapted. It features precise height adjustment. The steering wheel (Image 02) has also been given a noticeably better center position for forward and reverse driving. The precision of the rotary switch for travel direction/acceleration has been improved, making truck operation even more intuitive. The battery compartment has been given an entirely new and solid fastener. There are a sufficient number of storage compartments on the battery lid, including a removable insert.
