Gleason reports that together they will be able to “offer added value by directly connecting drafting and production know-how,” adding that design efficiency can also be “radically improved” now. The entire management and staff of Kisssoft are being acquired. Gleason is a leading provider in the development and manufacturing of machines for the production of gears including accessories, automation solutions and plastic gears. www.kisssoft.ag www.gleason.com Siemens Mechanical Drives division to become independent Siemens is restructuring its Mechanical Drives division. To expand its scope of action, it will act in the future as an independent company. The reason for this is that the market environment is currently marked by weak growth, which is associated with growing competition from the Asian region, excess capacities and accompanying price pressure. Siemens is also planning to invest in its locations worldwide and its product portfolio. With two brands on the market, Flender and Winergy, the Mechanical Drives (MD) division focuses primarily on applications with high torques such as wind energy and the cement industry. The business division has about 6000 employees worldwide and belongs to the Process Industries and Drives division. www.siemens.com NEWS AND MARKETS tailor made in germany.
