Siemens receives upgrade contract for Munich Airport Siemens Logistics has received an order to upgrade the baggage handling system in Terminal 2 and its satellite building at the Franz Josef Strauss Airport in Munich. By integrating innovative screening units, Siemens supports the customer to ensure that international specifications for baggage checking are met to the highest degree, and to continue to successfully manage the ever-increasing number of passengers. The customer is the “Terminal 2 Gesellschaft”, a joint subsidiary of Munich Airport and Lufthansa. This upgrade to the current safety and security regulations for baggage handling, which require explosives detection systems based on Standard 3 of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), calls for replacement of the X-ray equipment in the baggage handling system. Siemens is also implementing screening units of the latest generation that provide high-resolution 3D-imaging and enhanced scanning quality. www.siemens-logistics.com www.ek-automation.com NEWS AND MARKETS Editorial board: Winfried Bauer (Editor-in-chief), E-mail: w.bauer@vfmz.de Peter Becker (Editor-in-chief), E-mail: p.becker@vfmz.de Nicole Steinicke (Editor-in-chief), E-mail: s.steinicke@vfmz.de Manfred Weber, E-mail: m.weber@vfmz.de Svenja Stenner, E-mail: s.stenner@vfmz.de Managing editor: Winfried Bauer Assistant editors: Petra Weidt, Melanie Lerch, Angelina Haas, Ulla Winter Design/Layout: Anna Schätzlein, Sonja Daniel, Anette Fröder, Mario Wüst E-paper designer: Katja Rüdell Publishing house: Vereinigte Fachverlage GmbH Lise-Meitner-Str. 2, 55129 Mainz, Germany Commercial register No.: HRB 2270, District Court of Mainz VAT-ID: DE149063659 Privacy statement: ds-vfv.vfmz.de Managing director: Dr. Olaf Theisen Publishing director: Dr. Michael Werner, E-mail: m.werner@vfmz.de Correspondent India: Sushen Haresh Doshi M.Sc. (MICROMO) has been officially reorganized as FAULHABER MICROMO LLC and now becomes a fully integrated part of the FAULHABER Drive Systems division of the FAULHABER GROUP. The restructuring represents the realization of the long-term vision of the late owner of the company, Dr. Fritz Faulhaber Jr., and serves to solidify FAULHABER MICROMO’s position in the North American market as a leading provider in the area of high precision miniature motion systems. Dr. Faulhaber’s vision of a family-owned single corporate entity was carried through by his widow, Ping Faulhaber. FAULHABER MICROMO remains under family ownership, including Ping Faulhaber, as a 100% subsidiary of FAULHABER Drive Systems, headquartered in Schönaich near Stuttgart, Germany. This organizational change will be underscored by a transition from the existing MICROMO company brand to the FAULHABER brand which bears the name of the founding family and has become known around the world as a symbol of high quality and innovation in the precision drives industry. www.faulhaber.com Designing intelligent buildings together The BACnet International industry association supports the successful, global application of the BACnet protocol.
