EDITORIAL The world is

EDITORIAL The world is changing We no longer ask ourselves today whether we find ourselves in a globalization that is in the process of an increasing interweaving of society, economy and politics. We are far more concerned with how we should handle the challenges of the new life structures connected with this, of how we should confront these changes as people and what change our world of work must face. Our increasingly internationalized world demands a lot and shows us our personal boundaries in our ability to adapt. But it also opens up opportunities to us for example in international trade. If we regard the changes in industry we now have the job of confronting the really soft in order that we also remain competitive in future. Hightech Strategy Projects Smart Factory and Industry 4.0 will show us how we can go about this. Many companies are already carrying out practical Industry 4.0 projects – usually these are process optimizations through the use of modern automation technology, comprehensive networking of systems as well as the extension of thorough communication technologies. And we are reporting on these in our digital e-paper. Read for example how highly-complex image processing assignments can be solved, how remote maintenance tasks can be realized in the framework of an Industry 4.0 concept and why data exchange via OPC-UA has a future. Hannover Messe 2016 also shows how we can confront the age of networked industry completely under the motto of a common world production language. Together with our partner country USA, numerous concrete examples of applications from the field of digitization are presented. We also report on this in this edition of AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGIES. Maybe you will have an opportunity to dip into the world of Integrated Industry in Hanover from April 25th – April 29th 2016.
